A project of Community Transport (Central Coast Inc.)
Services for “Transport Disadvantaged” people in the Wyong Shire. Particularly the Frail Elderly, People with Disabilities, their Carers and Veterans.
Community Transport provides non-profit passenger transport services that cater to the needs of people who cannot make use of existing private or mainstream public transport systems. Across NSW, Community Transport operators provide services using buses, minibuses and cars driven by both paid and voluntary workers in metropolitan, regional and rural areas. Many of our services are provided in partnership with commercial bus and taxi services. As well as direct service provision, Community Transport also has a proud tradition of transport development, improving and adding value to the transport networks which promote the healthy functioning of our communities.
In 2002 and 2003 the CTO has set the following work priorities:
- Maintaining a member based organisation.
- Providing direct services to the members.
- Undertaking policy development work and advocacy on issues of concern to Community Transport organisations.
- Representing the interests of community transport within the transport industry.
- Addressing broader issues that impact on transport disadvantage, Community Transport or Community Transport organisation.
- Developing industry training programs and addressing issues related to the professional development of the community transport workforce.
